BREAKING NEWS: Mouyokolo signs four-year-deal

18 06 2010

Mouyokolo moved to Hull in 2009's January transfer window.

Wolves have now confirmed the signing of Hull City defender Steven Mouyokolo.

The 23-year-old Frenchman has signed a four-year-deal with the option of a fifth and as per club policy, he mvoes for an undisclosed fee.

Let’s hope his old club-mate Stephen Hunt will be following him before too long.

Ian Holloway looking to replicate Wolves’ style

7 06 2010

Holloway's Blackpool beat Cardiff 3-2 at Wembley to gain promotion.

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has admitted one of the first people he will ring to get Premier League advice is Mick McCarthy.

Holloway said his Blackpool side must replicate Wolves’ efforts last season and buy the young and hungry mould of player that Wolves have done in recent years.

His budget however, may dictate otherwise. Last year, Blackpool’s yearly budget was £4.8m but that will be boosted this year by the windfall after getting promoted.

Holloway says he may continue to deploy his favoured 4-3-3 formation and defend the way Wolves have this season.

He also admitted that the club also failed in an attempt to bring Aruna Dindane to Bloomfield Road.

*Holloway was talking at Grass Roots Football Live at the NEC. Thousands of players, coaches and managers turned up to hear from some of the most experienced managers in the business such as Iain Dowie, Graham Taylor and Peter Taylor.

Here’s a selection of my favourite Ian Holloway clips:

Jelle van Damme supposedly on the verge of joining Wolves

13 05 2010

Van Damme had a previous spell in England with Southampton between 2004 and 2006. He only made six appearances.

Wolves appear set to sign Belgium international Jelle Van Damme after comments from his manager point all fingers at a move to Molineux.

The 6ft 4ins utility man, currently with Anderlecht, is rated at £2.5m and was at the final game of the season against Sunderland. His manager claims terms have almost been finalised for him to join Wanderers.

Anderlecht boss Herman Van Holsbeeck is quoted in the Express & Star as saying: “Apparently, Jelle has an agreement with that club (Wolves).

“That’s very good, but at this moment there is nothing finalised.”

Here’s Van Damme in action.

Wolves 2-1 Sunderland

9 05 2010

Wolves finished the season in 15th position.

Wolves finished their Premier League season with a convincing 2-1 win over Sunderland at Molineux.

An early Sunderland goal was cancelled out by Kevin Doyle who converted from the penalty spot after Matt Jarvis had been taken down by Alan Hutton.

New signing Adlene Guedioura completed the turnaround late on when his low left-footed drive beat Craig Gordon at his near post.

Wolves played well throughout and could have been ahead earlier if it was not for the impressive Gordon who did well to deny both player of the year Jody Craddock and Christophe Berra.

Man of the match: Kevin Doyle – Lead the line well for Wolves and controlled most of the balls put in his path. Worked his socks off and his standing ovation was well deserved when he was substituted. Oh yeah, he scored a penalty as well! Kevin Doyle is ******* magic da da da da da…

Flops of the match: Michael Turner and Jack Colback – both sent off for two bookable offences. Sunderland were playing badly as it was and they certainly didn’t help their teams cause.

Referee: Lee Mason – In my opinion he missed a handball in the build-up to Sunderland’s goal but other then that the Lancashire official had a sound game – 8.

Mick McCarthy spotted on scouting mission

6 05 2010

McCarthy has already had a transfer meeting with Jez Moxey and Steve Morgan.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was spotted on a scouting mission at Tynecastle last night.

MM was watching the game between Hearts and Dundee United that finished 0-0 and was picked up by the Sky Sports cameras wearing a cheeky pair of glasses.

Who knows whether he had a specific target in mind or was just looking out for the next Christophe Berra???

*Blackburn, Fulham and Wolves are battling it out for Cameroon star Somen Tchoyi, skysports.com understands.
