Kyle Bennett's brother, Elliot, now plays for League One side Brighton.

Former Wolves academy midfielder Kyle Bennett scored for Port Vale reserves whilst on trial at the North Staffordshire club.

Bennett, who was told he would be released by Wolves, recently had a spell with Championship side Leicester City. Now, Vale boss Micky Adams is taking a look at the Telford-born youngster.

He played and scored in a 4-1 win for Vale’s reserves over Walsall on Wednesday and Micky Adams will now make a decision as to whether he will offer Bennett a contract.

My verdict: Bennett looked lightweight in the few times i saw him play for Wolves. Let’s hope MM has made the right decision.

Academy reject Kyle Bennett lands Leicester City trial

Bennett attended Thomas Telford School.

Former Academy attacker Kyle Bennett has joined Championship promotion chasers Leicester City on a two-week trial.

The 19-year-old was given a squad number at Wolves this season but has not been offered a new contract to stay at Molineux.

Bennett made his debut for England-under-18s in a 2-0 win over Austria in 2008 and has also been on standby for the under-19 squad.

Wolves may not have fancied him due to the fact he only stands at 5 foot 5 inches!

My verdict: He looked lightweight in the couple of reserve games I’ve seen him in but you don’t get England recognition for nothing (Emile Heskey?!). Good luck to the lad and let’s hope the decision doesn’t kick Wolves in the teeth.
